The lands of Potrero de los Funes were inherited by 3 brothers, Justo, Antonia and Nicolas Funes. Nicolas had two sons, Don Juan Nepomuceno and Don Juan Esteban Funes. The latter is the one who arrived at the so-called "Potrero Grande" in 1792. He built his home together with his wife, Doña Rosa Paez de Lince in 1822, and they had 10 children. He and his family developed various industries there.
Today, the remains of Don Esteban Funes, his wife and one of his children, rest in the "Casa de los Saá", declared Cultural and Historical Heritage by the local Town Council.
This town has always developed as a tourist town, but this intensified after the reconstruction of the "Potrero Chico" Dam (current "Dique Potrero de los Funes") in 1927, and then with the inauguration of the Semi-permanent International Circuit-Boxes in 2008, which promotes several important events such as Formula Renault, Formula Chevrolet, TC2000 and SUPER TC-2000.
It was recognized as an international tourist town with the creation of the Hotel International of Potrero de los Funes.
Today it continues to grow and incorporate new proposals to attract tourists throughout the year.
