The Potrero de los Funes fire station was founded on February 9, 2004. From there, it attends the community in conflagrations and others harsh circumstances, e.g., floods. It is also involved in the search of missing people in the mountains as wells as in dikes in the area. It is about of one of the institutions greatly recognized in the community. Their motto "sacrifice, abnegation and disinterest" honors not just every one of it′s members, who are always willing to help their neighbour. Hello! My name is Ángel, I work as a firefighter for the Department in Potrero de los Funes, San Luis, Argentina. I come here today to give some advices for tourists who are visiting our town. First of all, it´s not allowed to start camp fires anywhere. For example: on the edge of the river out in the mountain.
Another piece of advice is: If you plan to do activities like hiking or trekking, always do them with the appropriate sports shoes, accompanied by experienced guides and always informing firefighters or the police if you are planning to do so.
Last but not least, it´s not allowed to throw cigarette butts on th side of the road, and be always respectful of the cleanliness of the town.
